Method of Practice: Simhasana (Lion Pose)

    Sit in Vajrasana (Thunderbolt Pose) with your knees bent and slightly apart.
  • 02
    Place your palms on the floor in front of you with your fingers spread comfortably.
  • 03
    Take a deep breath in through your nose.
  • 04
    Open your mouth wide, extend your tongue fully, and stretch it downward toward your chin.
  • 05
    Exhale forcefully through your mouth while producing a loud “Ha…” sound, similar to a lion’s roar.
  • 06
    Repeat 3–5 times.

Benefits of Simhasana (Lion Pose)

  • Stretches the throat, neck, chest, and lungs, making it beneficial for conditions affecting these areas.
  • Stimulates the thyroid gland.
  • Relieves facial tension, irritability, and mental stress.

Particularly Beneficial / Supportive Practice For

  • Particularly beneficial for thyroid disorders, stammering, stuttering, difficulty in clear speech, tonsillitis and other mouth and throat disorders, teeth grinding (bruxism), jaw stiffness or pain, and eye strain and fatigue.
  • Also serves as a supportive practice for asthma and other respiratory disorders, digestive problems, lower back pain, stress, and anxiety.

Contraindications / Precautions

  • Do not perform this pose if you have:
    • A severe injury to the knees, ankles, or neck
    • Recent surgery involving the throat or face
